I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and sky,

And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by;

And the weel's kick and the wind's song and the white sails shaking,

And a grey mist on the sea's face, and a gray dawn breaking.

I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide

Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;

And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,

And the flung spray and the brown spume, and seagulls crying.

I  must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gipsy life,

To the gull's way and the whale's way where the wind 's like a wetted knife,

And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,

And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick 's over.

Elk schip heeft, zo U het niet wist,

een stotterhok met marconist.

Dat is een soort aetherpiraat,

die tussen meters draadloos draad

er schik in heeft "mesiek" te storen,

door vlijtig vonken aan te boren.

Al voert hij urenlang niets uit,

bij goeie "mesiek" begint 't gefluit.

Tetatereta, tetuttereto,

zo stoort hij onze radio.

Eén ding staat vast: Hij doet 't expres.

Tot onze spijt met veel succes.

Met voetbal is het evenzo.

Probeer je op de radio

te horen hoe 't Ajax verging?

Wij wedden om een heel lief ding

dat d'uitslag luidt: pepieperdepiep,

Alweer die vent met zijn gegniep

Het is een ramp; het is een kruis,

dat fluitverwekkend stotterhuis.

Wat ons betreft van boord er mee,

met Marconist en al in zee,

zodat ie ons niet meer kan storen

als wij naar "mesiek" gaan horen.

Solo (Antwoord):

Bedenkt, gij klagers: dit tuttereto

Was d'oorsprong van de radio,

die slechts muziek kon produceren

na jarenlang tetatereteren.

Dus knielt - hoort gij Sparks eens weer

Eerbiedig naast uw toestel neer.
